Dean has recently decided to branch out into movie-making and has produced his first movie, Behind NME Lines - Part I: The Rock Writings of Gavin Martin, about Dean's old friend, rock journalist and editor of the Daily Mirror music page (The Ticket), Gavin Martin. This is the first part of a trilogy, which will all be under the Behind NME Lines banner, about different former writers for this publication.

Actor Phil Gwilliam (Wilfred Owen in Bullets & Daffodils) stars as Gavin.
